Cloud computing is gaining popularity every year. Currently we have plenty of Public Cloud Service Providers. The most commonly known public clouds are: Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Also those vendors have the highest market shares. According to portal Statista, in third quarter of 2021, over 60% of cloud computing market belonged to AWS, Azure and GCP. Where, AWS has achieved ca. 31% of market. Azure had ca. 22% of market share and GCP ca. 8%. Still, ca. 39% of market belongs to other Cloud Service Providers.

Release date of most popular cloud computing platforms
AWS cloud computing services was released in March 2006. Azure came into life in 2008, but was commercially available in February 2010. Google Cloud Platform was first launched in April 2008.
Cloud Service Providers popularity – based on Region
Based on Google trends, we can observe interesting thing. Even though, AWS has the biggest market share, still in searches Azure is the most popular. Looking at search phrases in Google in 2014, Azure was the most commonly typed in Norway, AWS in South Korea, and GCP in Malesia. In 2014 the most common topic for Azure was machine learning, for AWS it was EC2 and for GCP it was google cloud sdk.
Looking at search phrases in Google in 2021, Microsoft Azure was the most commonly looked for in Norway, AWS in South Korea, and GCP in Indonesia. It is worth to add also the phases: the most popular in 2021 for Azure was “Azure Bicep”. However, for AWS 3 out of 5 most popular phrases were related to outage.
